Today I am bringing you a DIY bookshelf! Skyler has been wanting a bookshelf in his room for awhile now. He has a ton of books, records, his record player, and his plants that needed to be brought out from the closet and put on display!
Here is the link to the blog post of the shelf that inspired Skyler’s DIY.
To start this project Zach took the wood and the angle irons to his dad’s where there are a lot more power tools. He had to drill the holes in both the wood and the angle irons, and attach the balusters to the individual 2x10s. Here is a photo of the cut wood before we put everything together!
Once we had everything laid out, and the spacing all figured out, we attached the angle irons to each corner!
Once these pieces were attached, we stood the shelf up, and made sure that everything was level. Then when we were sure that everything was in order, we screwed in the last few screws, and Skyler could begin to stain!
I think that this is Zach’s way of saying that everything is secure and ready to go!
Skyler chose to use the Minwax Polyshades stain in the shade Espresso. He put on two coats for his shelf!
Here is Skyler’s shelf once the two coats of stain had completely dried. This smaller shelf is Zach’s new media console, which I will be posting next week!
This is the finished product once it was moved into his bedroom!
And last, but definitely not least, here is a photo, and a really cool video of Skyler’s styled bookshelf!
I hope that you all have enjoyed this Lazy Day Project! Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below. Also, be sure to come back next week to see Zach’s new media console!
Have a wonderful day!
